Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli are the No. 1 ODI bowler and batsman
India captain Virat Kohli has reclaimed the No 1 spot in the ICC ODI batsmen rankings, while fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has become the top-ranked ODI bowler, as per the latest reshuffling of the rankings. India, following their 5-1 series win over South Africa, have become the No 1 team in the ICC ODI Championship.
In the ODI leg of India’s tour of South Africa, Kohli was in a different league than his team-mates with 558 runs in six innings at an average of 186 and strike-rate of 99.46, with three centuries, a 75 and scores of 46* and 36. His 558 runs are the most by any batsman ever during a bilateral ODI series.
His current ranking of 909 ratings points is a career-best for any Indian cricketer.
Bumrah has moved up two spots to No 1 after taking eight wickets against South Africa, which gave him a total of 787 points - joint with Afghanistan's Rashid Khan. Other big gainers on the ODI bowler’s table was legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who broke into the top ten after taking 16 wickets against South Africa. He is currently at eighth place. Kuldeep Yadav, who took 17 wickets, has moved up to 15th position.
India’s series win was their first on South African soil, and pushed them past the hosts to No 1. They already are the top-ranked team in Test cricket and third in T20Is.
AB de Villiers is No. 2 in the ODI batsmen rankings with 844 points, followed by David Warner with 823. The next best Indian is Rohit Sharma, at sixth position. Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 323 runs in the ODIs with South Africa, is at tenth.Timesofindia
